The Chibi-Chan Story
The late Chibi-Chan was a Japanese Akita. Although she was Japanese by ancestry, she was a
100% American puppy-girl. She was born in Los Angeles in October 1986 and was adopted
by Lisa, caretaker of both Chibi and me. Chibi's name means "itsy-bitsy", which caused
no end of consternation to the Japanese who met her, since she weighed a dainty
65 pounds.
Some interesting (?) facts about Chibi-Chan!
- Chibi's favorite food was Science Diet (for Seniors, for her latter years)
- Chibi could not stand to have her paws touched.
- Chibi loved snackies. She'd do just about anything, except let you
touch her paws, for a snackie.
- Chibi got plenty of rest, to assure that she'd be alert to fend off prowlers.
She slept about 25 hours/day.
- Chibi loved to go for "walkies". Chibi-chan would grin from ear-to-ear if you asked her to go for a
walkie. As you can see, her ear-to-ear walkie-grin was completely irresistible.
Chibi-chan passed away Saturday,
November 17, 2001. We loved her more than can be described, and miss her even
more than we loved her. She was a sweetheart in the most literal sense and the
most beautiful soul we have ever known. Rest in peace, our dear sweet girl...
